Top 10 Players Remaining in the Portal

Share Post:

The spring window for the college basketball transfer portal has officially closed, marking the end of a hectic and transformative stretch in the offseason. While hundreds of players found new homes over the past few weeks, a handful of talented prospects still remain available and could be program-changing additions for teams with available scholarships. Here’s a look at the Top 10 remaining players in the transfer portal:

1. PJ Haggerty (Memphis)

PJ Haggerty has emerged as the premier prospect still available in the portal. After a standout season at Memphis, where he earned Second-Team All-American honors, Haggerty averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, leading the Tigers to an AAC Tournament title and a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Reports indicate that Haggerty is considering several programs, including NC State, Texas, and Ole Miss, while also leaving the door open for a potential return to Memphis. Haggerty’s decision looms large for one of those four programs who will add, maybe, the top player to enter the portal this cycle.

2. RJ Luis Jr. (St. John’s)

RJ Luis Jr. has been in the portal for weeks and is still one of the top players available. Luis is also going through the NBA Draft process, viewing the transfer portal as a potential backup plan should he decide to return to school. While his performance in the NCAA Tournament was underwhelming, leading to a benching in the loss to Arkansas, Luis maintains that his decision to go pro is based on his breakout season and mutual agreement with the coaching staff. His recruitment, so far, has been kept very quiet, and there is not much indication as to what schools are actually involved. As he continues to explore his professional options, his decision of whether or not to return to college is highly anticipated, as he remains one of the top players still on the market.

3. Jamir Watkins (Florida State)

Florida State transfer Jamir Watkins remains one of the top uncommitted players in the transfer portal, several weeks after initially entering. The 6-foot-7 wing had a strong junior season, showcasing his versatility by averaging 18.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game for the Seminoles. Despite his talent-level and proven production at the high-major level, Watkins’ recruitment has been kept relatively quiet, with few details emerging about which programs are actively pursuing him. Arkansas has been a school mentioned to potentially land his services, but no true information has been released. As one of the most complete two-way wings still available, his eventual landing spot could be a major late-offseason pickup for a contender.

4. Darrion Williams (Texas Tech)

Texas Tech forward Darrion Williams comes in as the number four available player on my list of top available transfers, but it seems his primary focus is on the NBA Draft. After averaging 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game in the 2024–25 season, earning First-Team All-Big 12 honors, Williams declared for the draft while maintaining his college eligibility. Kansas is considered a serious contender if he does return to school, with reports suggesting the Jayhawks are making a late push with a considerable NIL offer and the potential for significant playing time in the frontcourt . Other schools reportedly in the mix include BYU, Ohio State, and NC State, though Williams’ draft evaluation will likely dictate his plan for next season.

5. Desmond Claude (USC)

For the second year in a row, Desmond Claude finds himself in the transfer portal looking for a new home for his senior season. He averaged 15.8 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game in 2024-25, showcasing his versatility, playmaking and scoring ability. Florida has emerged as a leading contender for Claude’s services, hosting him on an official visit and presenting an opportunity for a starting role in their backcourt coming off a National Championship. With his combination of size, experience, and playmaking skills, Claude is a highly sought-after prospect who could make an immediate impact for the Gators or any program that secures his commitment.

6. Boogie Fland (Arkansas)

Arkansas guard Boogie Fland officially entered the transfer portal last week before the final deadline, but it appears to be more of a procedural move than an indication he’s eyeing a return to college basketball. A source told Locker Room Access that Fland is “100% focused” on the NBA Draft and is highly unlikely to return to school. The former five-star recruit showed flashes of elite potential during his freshman season before a midseason hand injury, and if he were to unexpectedly withdraw from the draft, he’d instantly become one of the most sought-after players remaining in the portal.

7. Baba Miller (Florida Atlantic)

Baba Miller entered the portal last week for the second consecutive offseason after a standout junior year at Florida Atlantic. The 6-foot-11 forward from Spain showcased his unique skill set during the 2024–25 season, averaging 11.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 48.6% from the field and 34.2% from three-point range. Miller combines his size with guard-like abilities, making him a valuable asset on both ends of the floor. Miller has attracted attention from numerous top programs, including Louisville, Indiana, Memphis, UConn, Florida State, and Kansas State. As one of the most sought-after players currently in the portal, Miller will have plenty of options on where to play his senior season.

8. Rylan Griffen (Kansas)

Kansas transfer Rylan Griffen is seeking a fresh start after a challenging season with the Jayhawks. Griffen had initially planned a visit to Kentucky, but that trip was canceled following the Wildcats’ commitment from Florida transfer Denzel Aberdeen, effectively closing the door on that opportunity. Now, Griffen’s recruitment appears to be centered around two primary options: a return to Alabama, where he previously played, and a potential transfer to Texas A&M. Griffen recently visited Alabama, indicating serious interest in a possible reunion with the Crimson Tide. Griffin had two solid seasons with Alabama throughout his first two years and it will be interesting to see if he opts to return to Tuscaloosa or head back to his home-state of Texas.

9. James Scott (Louisville)

Louisville transfer James Scott, who began his career playing at the College of Charleston before following Pat Kelsey to Louisville, remains as one of the top big men in the transfer portal. Scott entered the portal just before the deadline last week and has kept his recruiting information pretty close to the vest. Scott is a highly efficient 6-foot-11 forward who started 31 of 35 games last season. He averaged 7.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and led the team with 30 blocks while shooting better than 75% from the floor. Scott, according to reports, is planning to visit Auburn and Bruce Pearl, but has otherwise kept his recruiting information very quiet. He’ll be a significant front court presence for whatever team lands him next season.

10. Josh Ojianwuna (Baylor)

Baylor center Josh Ojianwuna entered the transfer portal a few weeks ago after a promising junior season was cut short by a season-ending knee injury in early February. Before the injury, the 6-foot-10 big man was averaging 7.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, starting all 23 games for the Bears. Ojianwuna is renowned for his athleticism, serving as a formidable lob threat and an excellent rebounder on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he brings a strong presence in the paint, utilizing his size and agility to protect the rim and disrupt opponents on offense. Ojianwuna is another guy who has kept his recruiting information really quiet, so far, but could be an impact player during the 2025-26 season after he returns from injury.
