We’re now three weeks into the 2025 transfer portal cycle, and the buzz hasn’t slowed down, but neither has the list of available talent. While some of the biggest names have already found new homes, a surprising number of high-impact players remain uncommitted, creating a second wave of portal activity that could reshape rosters deep into the offseason. Here’s a look at the Top 10 players still on the board:
1. RJ Luis Jr. (St. John’s)

As was the case last week, RJ Luis Jr. stands alone at the top of the board as the most coveted player still available. The former St. John’s wing is coming off a breakout season under Rick Pitino, where he earned Big East Player of the Year honors after averaging 18.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while leading the Red Storm to a conference title. A versatile 6-foot-7 scorer with a pro-ready frame and the ability to impact the game on both ends, Luis brings a blend of production, experience, and upside that few in the portal can match. While no schools have come to the forefront of his recruitment just yet, I expect that many of the top schools in the country have reached out for services. With his name still uncommitted and both NBA and high-major programs monitoring closely, his eventual landing spot could have major ripple effects on the 2025-26 college basketball season.
2. Jamir Watkins (Florida State)
Jamir Watkins’ entry into the 2025 transfer portal took many by surprise, but he positioned himself as one of the most sought-after players in the portal. The 6-foot-7 forward led Florida State in scoring during the 2024–25 season, averaging 18.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game, earning All-ACC Second Team honors. His decision to enter the portal, accompanied by a “do not contact” tag, suggests he may already have a destination in mind, adding a ton of intrigue to his next move. Watkins’ blend of size, versatility, and proven production makes him a valuable asset for programs seeking an immediate impact player. He will certainly be a major name to track in the coming weeks.
3. Darrion Williams (Texas Tech)
Darrion Williams entered both the 2025 NBA Draft and the NCAA transfer portal last week, becoming one of the top available players on the board. The 6-foot-6 junior averaged 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, earning First-Team All-Big 12 honors. His standout performances in the NCAA Tournament, where he averaged 21 points per game and led the Red Raiders to the Elite Eight, further solidified his status as a top-tier transfer portal talent. As Williams weighs his professional options against the benefits of another collegiate season, his decision is poised to significantly impact one program, and potentially, take them to another level.
4. Ian Jackson (North Carolina)
Former five-star recruit Ian Jackson entered the transfer portal last week after a solid freshman season at North Carolina. The 6-foot-4 Bronx native averaged 11.9 points per game on 45.6% shooting, including an impressive 39.5% from beyond the arc, earning ACC All-Freshman honors. St. John’s, USC and Arkansas were immediately considered the frontrunners to land the former-five star recruit and Jackson has already reportedly taken visits to both USC and St. John’s. Jackson has the tools to be a high-level lead guard, with elite athleticism, shot-making ability, and a natural scoring instinct. His combination of speed, strength, and improved perimeter shooting makes him a potential breakout star wherever he winds up landing.
5. Rodney Rice (Maryland)
Rice has been in the portal for a few weeks now and things are starting to take shape in his recruitment. Rice cut his list of schools to six last week and is currently considering Villanova, Tennessee, USC, Auburn, Gonzaga and a possible return to Maryland. He has already taken visits to Tennessee and Villanova, thus far, and told me this morning that he plans to visit USC later on this week. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard averaged 13.8 points per game last season, shooting over 37% from three-point range and making 80 threes on the year. After being on this list rated as the number two available player last week, I expect him to wrap up his recruitment in the not-so-distant future.
6. Dillon Mitchell (Cincinnati)
Dillon Mitchell, a former five-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American, entered the transfer portal last week for the second time, seeking a new opportunity after stints at Texas and Cincinnati. At 6-foot-8, Mitchell is renowned for his exceptional athleticism and defensive versatility, traits that have made him a standout since his high school days at Montverde Academy. During the 2024-25 season with the Bearcats, he averaged 9.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, starting all 35 contests and leading the team in rebounding. Mitchell’s experience throughout three collegiate seasons makes him a valuable asset for high-major programs looking to enhance their frontcourt with a dynamic, athletic and versatile piece.
7. Mackenzie Mgbako (Indiana)
Mgbako is another returner to this list from last week and has since taken a few visits to a few different high-major programs. Kentucky, Ole Miss and NC State are the three programs to watch here, as he has now reportedly taken visits to all three schools. Mgbako hasn’t yet had the college career that many anticipated coming out of high school, but he has still been a productive player throughout his first two collegiate seasons. The former five-star recruit has averaged 12+ points in both seasons and with some slightly improved efficiency in 2024-25. As he continues to explore his options, a source told me that NC State could be the team to beat in his recruitment.
8. Ante Brzovic (College of Charleston)
Another player on this list from last week is College of Charleston big man Ante Brzovic, who is currently waiting on the NCAA to clear him for next season. Brzovic told me last week that basically every high-major program in the country has reached out, although he has not yet begun to trim the list. Brzovic had a spectacular third season at the College of Charleston, averaging 18.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game on the season. If Brzovic is cleared by the NCAA, which I’m told by a source is about a “60% chance,” he will be among the hottest names remaining on the open market, as he will almost certainly have a major impact next season at the high-major level.
9. Lamar Wilkerson (Sam Houston State)
Wilkerson is another returner to the list from last week, as he has seemingly narrowed his list down to four schools: Auburn, Indiana, Kentucky and Ole Miss. Wilkerson has already completed an official visit to Indiana, per his social media, and visited Kentucky and Mark Pope on Sunday. He was also set to visit Auburn later this, but those plans have reportedly been canceled. Wilkerson brings elite scoring ability and efficient shooting to any program, having averaged over 20 points per game while shooting 44.5% from three at Sam Houston State. He will be a plug-and-play offensive weapon with the potential to thrive at any one of those four schools next season.
10. Cedric Coward (Eastern Washington)
Despite being limited to just six games this past season due to a severe shoulder injury, Coward is certainly one of the most impactful players available. The 6-foot-6 wing showcased his versatility and scoring prowess in just a handful of games at Washington State, averaging 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 55.7% from the field and 40% from three-point range before his injury. Coward’s journey from Division III Willamette to Eastern Washington, and then to Washington State, highlights his adaptability and growth as a player. His size, athleticism, and experience makes him a valuable asset for any team seeking a dynamic and seasoned contributor. Assuming his shoulder is fully healed and he has no setbacks heading into the summer, expect him to make a major impact for whatever team he ends up deciding on.
