The 2025 college basketball offseason has been marked by significant activity in the transfer portal, with several programs making impactful additions to their rosters. Here are the top five teams that have assembled the most impressive transfer classes:
1. Michigan Wolverines
- UAB transfer Yaxel Lendeborg (17.7PPG, 11.4RPG, 4.2APG, 1.8BPG, 1.7SPG in 24-25)
- North Carolina transfer Elliot Cadeau (9.4PPG, 6.2APG, 2.9RPG, 1.1SPG in 24-25)
- Illinois transfer Morez Johnson (7.0PPG, 6.7RPG, 1.1BPG in 24-25)
- UCLA transfer Aday Mara (6.4PPG, 4.0RPG, 1.0APG, 1.6BPG in 24-25)
Michigan basketball’s 2025 transfer class, featuring standout additions like Yaxel Lendeborg, Elliot Cadeau, Morez Johnson, and Aday Mara, signals a major resurgence under head coach Dusty May. After a strong Year 1 as the Wolverines head coach, May went to work again in the portal, bringing in high-level players at multiple positions. With elite size, athleticism, and playmaking now spread across basically every spot, the Wolverines are poised for another big season in 2025-26. One thing to watch with this group is the status of Yaxel Lendeborg, who was maybe the top overall player in the portal. Lendeborg is currently testing the NBA Draft waters, so their number one overall ranking on this list could change, depending on what he decides.
2. Louisville Cardinals
- Xavier transfer Ryan Conwell (16.5PPG, 2.7RPG, 2.5APG, 1.3SPG in 24-25)
- Virginia transfer Isaac McKneely (14.4PPG, 2.9APG, 2.7RPG in 24-25)
- Kennesaw State transfer Adrian Wooley (18.8PPG, 5.2RPG, 3.6APG, 1.4SPG in 24-25)
I absolutely love what Pat Kelsey and staff have done, so far, during the 2025 offseason, bringing in high-level scorers and shotmakers who will impact the program right away. Ryan Conwell brings a proven scoring touch, having averaged 16.5 points per game this season, while Isaac McKneely led the ACC in three-point shooting at 42.1%. Adrian Wooley, the 2025 Conference USA Freshman of the Year adds versatility and playmaking to the backcourt after posting huge numbers during his first collegiate season. Together, this trio infuses some experience, shooting, and athleticism, positioning Louisville as a legit contender in the ACC in 2025-26.
3. Kentucky Wildcats
- Pitt transfer Jaland Lowe (16.8PPG, 5.5APG, 4.2RPG, 1.8SPG in 24-25)
- Arizona State transfer Jayden Quaintance (9.4PPG, 7.9RPG, 1.5APG, 2.6BPG, 1.1SPG in 24-25)
- Alabama transfer Mouhamed Dioubate (7.2PPG, 5.9RPG, 1.1APG in 24-25)
- Tulane transfer Kam Williams (9.3PPG, 4.5RPG, 1.3APG, 1.4SPG, 1.1BPG in 24-25)
Kentucky’s 2025 transfer portal class under head coach Mark Pope is shaping up to be one of the nation’s best, featuring a blend of elite talent and versatile contributors. Five-star forward Jayden Quaintance, a former McDonald’s All-American, brings elite athleticism and defensive prowess to the frontcourt. Joining him is Jaland Lowe, a Third-Team All-ACC guard from Pittsburgh who will provide immediate production at the point guard spot. Mouhamed Dioubate, transferring from Alabama, adds energy and rebounding, while Kam Williams, an AAC All-Freshman selection from Tulane, offers scoring versatility and high-level perimeter defense. Together, this group has formed one of the top portal classes in the country.
4. Indiana Hoosiers
- West Virginia transfer Tucker DeVries (14.9PPG, 4.9RPG, 2.8APG, 1.8SPG, 1.5BPG in 24-25)
- Sam Houston State transfer Lamar Wilkerson (20.5PPG, 4.0RPG, 2.1APG, 1.1SPG in 24-25)
- Davidson transfer Reed Bailey (18.8PPG, 6.1RPG, 3.8APG in 24-25)
- Troy transfer Tayton Conerway (14.2PPG, 4.8APG, 4.6RPG, 2.9SPG in 24-25)
- North Florida transfer Jasai Miles (15.4PPG, 6.8RPG, 1.9APG in 24-25)
- DePaul transfer Conor Enright (7.5PPG, 6.2APG, 3.3RPG in 24-25)
Indiana’s 2025 transfer class under head coach Darian DeVries brings a strong mix of experience, scoring, and versatility. Tucker DeVries, a two-time MVC Player of the Year, follows his father after a short, injury-plagued stint at West Virginia. Reed Bailey and Lamar Wilkerson add major scoring punch, with both averaging over 18 points per game in 2024-25. Point guard Conor Enright, who played for DeVries at Drake, adds steady leadership and is an elite role player, while Tayton Conerway, the Sun Belt Player of the Year, and Jasai Miles bring toughness, athleticism and scoring to the backcourt. While they still have some work to do, this group reloads Indiana’s roster and will almost certainly set Indiana up well for next season.
5. St. John’s Red Storm
- Providence transfer Bryce Hopkins (17.0PPG, 7.7RPG, 3.0APG, 1.0SPG in 24-25)
- Arizona State transfer Joson Sanon (11.9PPG, 3.4RPG, 1.0APG in 24-25)
- Stanford transfer Oziyah Sellers (13.7PPG, 2.8RPG, 1.3APG in 24-25)
Rick Pitino has pulled in one of the top transfer portal classes in the country so far, reloading St. John’s with a mix of high-level talent and underrated impact. Joson Sanon, a former four-star recruit from Arizona State, brings athleticism, scoring and two-way ability to the wing. Bryce Hopkins, a proven scorer and rebounder from Providence, adds versatility and experience to the frontcourt despite dealing with injuries for basically the entire 2024-25 season. Rounding out the class is Oziyah Sellers, an underrated, versatile prospect from Stanford who gives the Red Storm a boost in perimeter scoring and defensive versatility. With this trio, Pitino has, once again, positioned St. John’s to be a serious contender in the Big East next year.
